An Advanced Guide On How To Do Keyword Research

An Advanced Guide On How To Do Keyword Research

This is not the usual keyword research fluff you find on the Internet. In this article, we’re going to share with you our exact strategy on how to do keyword research. The techniques we share here have brought a lot of success to our business. Implement these on your own websites and you will soon see those leads and sales coming in from 100% organic traffic.

Why Is Keyword Research So Important

Everyone knows what Google is. It’s the biggest search engine in the world. In fact, 80% of desktop computer users go on Google to search for information and buy stuff online.

Knowing how to laser-target profitable keywords and then learning how to rank your website high up on Google should be your top priority. Why? Because if your website sits on the top of Google for a profitable keyword, then chances are you’ll get tons of highly targeted organic traffic which directly translates to leads and sales!

The best thing about this traffic? It’s all FREE! Meaning you don’t pay a dime to get visitors to your website. These are people who specifically typed your keywords on Google so you know that they are interested in reading what you have to say.

The Right Way To Do Keyword Research (Manual vs Software)

There are plenty of ways you can go about with the keyword research process. You can do manual keyword research by going on Google, using the ‘auto suggest’ and ‘related searches’ features then copying the keywords to a spreadsheet. You then carry out competitor and trend analysis on your selected keywords.

After doing this process for a few keywords, you’ll begin to see a pattern and you can probably deduce which keywords are best to target and which keywords to avoid. Of course, by the time you look down at your watch, you’ll have lost several hours at least! Imagine how much time it will take you to go through a list of 100, 200 or maybe even thousands of keywords!

If you want to use your time wisely, then the best way to do keyword research is to use keyword research software. Not just any old software, but one that’s designed specifically to look for the best keywords for your business, all at the push of a button.

What’s The Best Keyword Research Tool For Your Business?

We’ve used so many keyword research tools in the past. From the free ones to the most expensive ones. We’ve paid monthly subscriptions and annual subscriptions. Here are three of the most impressive keyword tools we’ve used to date:

#1 - KeywordXP (Highly Recommended)

This is our go-to keyword research tool which we use every single day to rank our websites on Google. It has all the features the big, well-known and very expensive keyword tools have. You can quickly find thousands of long tail keywords that people are searching for on Google (you can even specify which data center you want to use), Bing, YouTube, eBay, Ask, and Amazon!

It serves up detailed trend analysis so you can get a feel for whether there’s enough interest in the keyword or if it’s about to die out soon. Also, if you know who your competitors are (and you should!), then you will love its detailed competitor analysis feature. With just a few mouse clicks, you will know your competitors strengths and weaknesses and plan out your campaign to replace them at the top!

Another great feature we love about this tool is the viral blog title generator. If you’ve written content before, then you know just how hard it is to think of blog titles that will catch your readers’ attention. The blog title generator will give you plenty of ideas so you can continue writing content that people will read and share with their friends and followers.

We’ve invested a very small one-time fee (only $97) for this software and it has paid for itself many times over. Customer support is top notch. They also provide detailed video walkthroughs and tutorials to help you make the most of your software (very few companies offer this!). If you’ve got any questions or need technical support, simply send them a ticket and you’ll hear from them shortly.

At this point, we can say that KeywordXP is directly responsible for our company’s success. We recommend you try out the software. They do offer a 10-day free trial so you should go sign up (you have literally nothing to lose and everything to gain)!

#2 – WordTracker (Useful but expensive and lacks some KeywordXP features)

We also like WordTracker a lot. Just like KeywordXP, it also mines keyword data from Google, YouTube and Amazon. Unlike KeywordXP though it does NOT get data from Bing, eBay and Ask. You can also easily look up thousands of related keyword suggestions, search volume, keyword difficulty, and more, all within a user-friendly interface. However, it’s quite expensive (though not as expensive as Jaaxy!), at $27/mo for the basic plan. If you want to try out this software, they offer a free 7-day trial.

#3 - Jaaxy (Good software but very expensive)

Jaaxy is another good tool that we’ve used in our business. It has a lot of really good features that KeywordXP has such as the ability to search for long tail keywords, trend analysis, keyword analysis, competitor analysis, and more. It runs on your browser so no need to install anything on your computer and you can even find domain availability straight away (you can also do this on KeywordXP).  However, this software requires hefty investment. You can try it out for 30 days. After that, you’ll have to shell out $49/mo or $588/year for the Pro plan.

Final Thoughts On Keyword Research
Keyword research isn’t as hard as it used to be. With just a few minutes of research, you can have a long list of profitable keywords at your fingertips. As we have shown you in this article, our secret weapon to finding highly targeted keywords to rank on Google is KeywordXP. If you want to save countless hours on keyword research and instead focus on other aspect of your business, we encourage you to try out KeywordXP today.
